Mesa’s Eastmark community is getting its first ever shopping center, which will be anchored by a Safeway.

Evergreen Development announced Thursday that it bought 10.6 acres of land at Signal Butte and Warner roads in Mesa to develop into a shopping center. Evergreen bought the land from DMB Proving Grounds and hopes to complete the center in November 2019, dubbing it “The Point at Eastmark.”

“This incredibly well-located property will be a high-traffic retail zone that will bring several high-quality stores, restaurants and amenities to the area,” Mike De Nitto, Evergreen Development’s director of acquisitions-Arizona, said in the company’s announcement.

The firm plans to break ground in February 2019.

Eastmark, a five-square-mile master-planned community at the edge of the Valley near Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport, is ranked the sixth top-selling master-planned community in the country, according to real estate advisory firm RCLCO.
