IN METRO TUCSON
Pima County Board of Supervisors approves re-zoning application for development of Fry’s
Marketplace anchored center for underserved area
Tucson, AZ (August 7, 2012) – Evergreen Real Estate in partnership with the Pascua Yaqui Tribe, today announced the Pima County Board of Supervisors’ unanimous approval of a re-zoning application for 177,000 square feet of grocery anchored retail at the corner of Mark and Valencia roads in metropolitan Tucson. The Evergreen-Pascua Yaqui Tribe partnership plans to develop a 126,000 Fry’s Marketplace with fuel station at the southeast corner of Mark and Valencia roads. The neighborhood Fry’s anchored center will also include a number of pads and shops with users intended to meet the needs of this previously underserved residential area. “We are delighted to receive unanimous approval from the Board and are eager to begin development activities on the site,” said Laura Ortiz, Evergreen Managing Principal. “This is one of the fastest growing areas of Metropolitan Tucson and many of its residents are currently driving long distances for groceries and services.” Evergreen and The Pascua Yaqui Tribe have studied the area for a number of years and recognized the need to bring much needed services to the growing population. Construction on the project is scheduled to begin late this year with plans to open the Fry’s Marketplace in the fourth quarter of 2013. “We are looking forward to becoming part of the neighborhood and to bringing conveniences to this vibrant area,” said Bill Finch with Fry’s Real Estate Department.
